Metacognitive Theory

An Introduction to Metacognitive Theory

The first of 8 videos in the metacognition.org.uk course on Metacognition for teachers and educational professionals. In this video, you will understand the importance of Metacognition, the vast benefits that it can bring for all learners, regardless of their prior abilities. You will also understand where the theory comes from, key parts of Metacognitive theory, as well as how it fits in with other literature in the field. Common pitfalls and misconceptions will then be addressed to make sure.

Correction

In the video I mention that Metacognition CPD is a requirement of Ofsted. It is not a requirement, but it has been recorded by Ofsted as good practice in their Evidence Review Document.

Help Our Cause

Running this site is incredibly expensive. I don't mind about the time it takes, but it does rather drain my pockets! Any donations towards the running costs would be much appreciated. We have kept all videos and resources free to ensure that they are accessible for all. Thank you.
